It's commonly assumed that princesses were reluctant to be carried off by dragons. This is a misconception. A cave full of treasure and the ministrations of an easily-cowed dragon were much preferred to a drafty castle full of quarreling, smelly knights who thought that cats were evil and the floor was a compost bin.
