Tips and Tricks for Aging Gods

Smiting, of course, is the most important thing a god can do. It's an old standby, but people never get tired of it, whereas good fortune, buckets of cash, pots of gold, winning lottery numbers and the like eventually set your basic congregation to grumbling and muttering things like: 'Is that all there is?', and 'How come he got more than I did--do you think he's better than me?'
Some of your more pretentious followers might say, 'Dost thou think he shines more brightly in thine eye than I do, Oh Supreme Being?', but we know people like this are angling for promotions, so we usually mark them down for special smiting, using the new power tools.
It's Mittwoch--Wednesday, to be precise--which used to belong to the old Anglo Saxon god Woden, or Wodan, as he was known among the Germans. He probably got distracted trying to decide whether he was actually Woden or Wodan, and while he was pondering this, the sneaky Middle English changed his day to Wednes dei, which the same name, really, but pronounced in a special way.
So, always keep an eye on your name, in case someone tries to change it while you're out shopping for chocolate.
Have a piece of chocolate cake. This image was posted on  busybloggers.com, which features an article on National Chocolate Cake Day.
Don't talk; eat!
Here is an excellent painting of a steam engine by Gary Fox.
Remember, steam engines are an endangered species--so no hunting and trapping them, please.
Everything is related to everything else.
That's quite a lot of sibling rivalry!
